The Application of Quizlet in Teaching English Vocabulary to Non-native Students

Learning languages has become more and more popular. In the post-methods era, the advancement of technology can facilitate and fulfill students’ needs in language learning; however, educators and learners should consider the usability, availability, and accessibility of technology in realistic educational contexts. This paper aims to investigate the effectiveness of Quizlet and non-native students’ perspectives on using it in teaching and learning English vocabulary. The research applies the qualitative method, and this case study focuses on non-native students. Specifically, the study design is content analysis, so various articles are reviewed to examine the efficacy of Quizlet and students’ perceptions of its use in teaching and learning vocabulary. The findings reveal the effectiveness of the online platform in classrooms, online courses, and self-study. In addition, they show that most students have positive attitudes toward the utilization of Quizlet in terms of its usability, engagement, and class atmosphere. On the other hand, several students report various drawbacks to learning with this kind of technology. This study contributes to further research on the integration of various pieces of technology in language learning classes.
